Magazine - Knitters, 1986 Spring/Summer

$15.00Price

Knitter's (they added the apostrophe in 1988) had a 30-year run, from 1985 until 2016, not bad for a knitting magazine. In the first issue, editor Elaine Rowley explained how she learned to knit watching a TV show hosted by Elizabeth Zimmermann on her local PBS station in South Dakota, and publisher Alexis Xenakis told how he had the pleasure of visiting Zimmermann in Wisconsin and convincing her to write a regular column. This is their fourth issue, featuring an interview with a still-young Kaffe Fassett (can it be 40 years ago?) Barbara Walker, and an interesting article on the editors of the major knitting magazines of the day, which included Vogue Knitting, but also, McCall's Needlework, Family Circle, Woman's Day, Good Housekeeping Needlework, and Knitting with Simplicity. See our photos for the table of contents. 82 pages.
