Things you should know about A Good Yarn

A Good Yarn is owned by Linda Stanyon Johnson, previous owner of The Woolgathering, on New York City's Upper East Side, for 10 years.

Our studio is at 1275 The By Way NE in Atlanta, Georgia, less than 10 minutes from Interstate 75-85 downtown. Call 845-913-6547 for an appointment. We're generally available on short notice weekdays and often on weekends as well. We'll help you design a new project, for free, choosing from our large selection of yarn, patterns and pattern books, and a huge selection of notions including one of the largest assortments of vintage buttons in the Southeast (which are not for sale on the Web site). We specialize in writing patterns to your dimensions, to insure a great fit.

On the Web, we offer more than a dozen lines of yarn, notions, free vintage patterns, pattern books, and the largest archive of knitting images anywhere on the Web.

We specialize in helping you find a new project that fits

We always welcome new customers in person at our studio in Atlanta, and we'll try to arrange an appointment even if you call at the last minute (though it always helps to give us a little advance notice). We specialize in helping you find a new project and designing it to fit. We have literally thousands of patterns (including every issue of Vogue Knitting back to the 1930s) plus a huge selection of vintage buttons and buckles for just the right finishing touch.

Yarns and notions (in original condition) may be returned for store credit within 30 days of purchase. Books and patterns, however, are not returnable. We do not pay postage and shipping for returned items, unless they are defective (see below).

To return goods, package them securely and send them to Linda Johnson, A Good Yarn, 1275 The By Way NE, Atlanta, GA 30306.

Defective goods:

We take great care to examine all of our goods before they are shipped, but should any item prove defective, we will replace or refund the value of the goods in full.  Please return defective goods to Linda Johnson, A Good Yarn, 1275 The By Way NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30306. We will, of course, refund the full cost of return postage.
